Sabbath Mission Day 1
By Jason | July 13, 2009
We have arrived safely to our destination. We are located high in the mountains of Colorado staying in a nice little church with an incredible mountain view! All is great! Our team is really coming together. After arriving this afternoon we have spent some time “slowing down” so that we can better minister to people. It is often our first action to jump straight in with no preparation and no understanding of who we are so that we can effectively tell others about Jesus. We will be spending the next day or so preparing for the rest of the week to minister and to serve. But our plan for a few days is to learn and understand who we are so that we can let go of things in our lives keeping us from telling others about Jesus.
The first few days of our trip we will spend time learning to slow down as Jesus often did as he escaped and we will be learning about the principles of the Sabbath and taking rest for ourselves. It is through this rest that we discover who we are and what God wants us to be. Its a crazy concept I know, because none of us really want to slow down, because face it the world says “Go, Go, Go!”. But slowing down is needed, its necessary, and it’s scriptural to take time to spend with God.
Our team is really excited! I have been really proud of all our teens as they have had great positive attitudes and as one of our church mission team members put it, learning to be flexible in missions. We had a wonderful dinner tonight prepared by our one of the mission staff Niki! Benny and Niki are awesome and we are so glad to get to spend time with them as they lead us this week! We look forward to our first full day tomorrow. Please be praying for our mission team as we prepare to work in the streets of Colorado later this week.

Praise God for a safe trip, a beautiful setting, and time to learn and grow. We are proud of everyone for going and being willing to work together for the Lord. Give our love to everyone - and Jessica, too!
