Early Morning Snow
By Jason | December 2, 2009
We awoke this morning to a nice surprise: snow blanketing our roofs and yards! Ok, so maybe I am using blanketing a little too loosely, but it was still a nice surprise to see a little snow on the ground. As usual, my oldest daughter was stalling and fighting getting ready for school; she is not a morning person! But when she saw the snow she jumped up, got all excited, threw on her clothes, and was ready faster than I have ever seen her so that she could run out in the snow before she left for school. I myself woke up faster, and Cori seemed to get ready a little quicker. We were all excited and had a renewed strength to begin our early morning.
It never stops amazing me how each time I open up the Word of God and read, I learn something new and I feel better. Just the other day I was preparing to teach an upcoming lesson and I was reading the story of Jesus’ birth. I have probably read this story and heard this story hundreds if not thousands of times. Yet, just reading it again, I gained more knowledge and I ended my study feeling uplifted and encouraged.
That’s the power of the Word of God. It always transforms us, teaches us, encourages us, and strengthens us. It’s too easy in our lives to get caught up in “things of this world” and our mundane routines. For a quick burst of renewed strength and to break away from the normal, open up your Bible. Spend some time letting God speak to you. You will be blessed!
